Apple has been getting flooded with people complaining that their iPhone’s batteries are dying too quickly. While Apple has been a little slow in responding, German site Macerkopf reports,
“iOS 5.0.2 coming very soon, solving the battery bugs. Should arrive before the end of next week. Apple is working hard on the update. In addition Apple ist working on the first big iOS 5 Update (iOS 5.1), bringing some siri-extensions. Also the Siri hardware-control is in work “take a picture”, “make a video”, “switch on/off WiFi”, “switch on/off BT” and more.
If these reports are true we can assume that iOS 5.0.2 is being created to fix the continued battery problems that have been plaguing iPhones since there initial release. If this does come around the rumored time of next week, it would be a quick update coming only a week and a half after iOS 5.0.1. Since we haven’t seen Apple seed this update to developers we would be quite surprised if they did it in this manner. Apple only tested 1OS 5.0.1 for a week before the pushed it to servers for the general public.
Future updates that the source also points to would include improvements to Siri’s efficiency and additional integration. These updates are supposedly hitting as close to as the beginning of next year. In Apple’s FAQ for Siri it states that additional language and expansion of maps and local search will also be included in the update. Which update that is going to be is still debatable but don’t be expecting it much earlier than New Years. Extra capabilities that are being looked at by Apple for Siri include some fascinating features such as commands for tasks like taking video and photos, turning on toggles such as WI-Fi or Bluetooth.
The source Macerkopf has been an infrequent source of rumors so it should be taken with a grain of salt. We hope that these wishes do become a reality and will keep you updated on what happens. Where do you think Siri’s future lies? Tell us in the comment section below!
